Celebrating 4 Years in Ethiopia
This month, we joyfully celebrated our four-year anniversary of living in Ethiopia and serving at the International Evangelical Church (IEC). Looking back over the past four years, we are filled with gratitude for the many blessings and experiences that have shaped our journey. It has been a time of growth, both in ministry and in our personal lives, and we’ve seen God’s faithfulness in countless ways.
A Journey of Faith
When we first arrived in Ethiopia, we had no idea what to expect. We stepped into the unknown with a heart full of hope, ready to serve the community God had called us to. As we began this new chapter, we quickly learned that ministry in a new country, especially one so different from our own, would come with challenges. But through every high and low, we have experienced God’s grace and His steadfast faithfulness in ways we could never have imagined.
There have been ups—moments of joy, breakthrough, and growth in our ministry, as well as in our family. We’ve witnessed God move in powerful ways through the church, seen people’s lives touched, and had the privilege of walking alongside individuals on their spiritual journeys.
But, like any journey, there have also been downs—challenges that have tested our faith and perseverance. We’ve faced difficulties, experienced moments of doubt, and walked through seasons of uncertainty. Yet, even in those moments, we have never been alone. God has been right there with us, guiding, providing, and showing us His love in profound ways.
Grateful for His Faithfulness
As we reflect on the last four years, one thing stands out above all else: God is faithful. His presence has been a constant source of strength and encouragement. Whether in times of joy or hardship, we’ve seen His hand at work in our lives and the lives of those around us.
We’ve been blessed to be a part of a vibrant, loving church family at IEC. The people here have become more than just fellow believers; they are our friends, our mentors, and our family. Their support, prayers, and encouragement have been invaluable to us throughout our time in Ethiopia. We’ve seen firsthand how the church has grown and how God is using IEC to touch lives both in Addis Ababa and beyond.
The Power of Community
One of the greatest joys of our time in Ethiopia has been the sense of community we’ve experienced. We’ve witnessed the church come together to support one another, to celebrate milestones, and to mourn losses. There is a deep bond here—a shared purpose in serving God and loving others—and it’s something we cherish deeply. The way the church has welcomed us, cared for us, and allowed us to serve has been such a gift.
We’ve also had the opportunity to connect with the broader community in Ethiopia. The rich cultural diversity, the beauty of the country, and the incredible people we’ve met have all been a part of our journey. Whether it’s through outreach events, relationships with local organizations, or simply living alongside our neighbors, we’ve seen the importance of being present and involved in the lives of others.
Looking Ahead with Hope
As we look ahead to the next chapter of our journey, we do so with hope and expectation. God has been faithful in every season, and we trust that He will continue to lead us and guide us in the years to come. We know that there will be more challenges and difficulties, but we also know that God is bigger than any obstacle we may face.
Our hearts are full of excitement for what lies ahead—for the growth of IEC, for deeper connections with our community, and for the opportunities God will open up for ministry and service. We are committed to continuing to serve and pour into the lives of those around us, knowing that God is at work in ways we may not always see, but trust that He is always moving.
A Thankful Heart
As we celebrate these four years of living in Ethiopia and serving at IEC, we are deeply thankful for this journey. God has been good, and we are honored to be part of the incredible work He is doing here. We are grateful for the people of IEC, for the opportunities to minister, and for the lessons we have learned along the way.
Thank you to all who have supported us—whether through prayer, encouragement, giving, or friendship. Your love and kindness have made a world of difference to us. We look forward to many more years of serving alongside you, growing in faith, and seeing God’s Kingdom continue to expand in Ethiopia and beyond.
