Year End: Needs at IEC
We were blessed to have a group build a playground at IEC.
UPDATED November 2022: IEC is a church blessed to have people from approximately 60 nations worshipping together. Below are some various needs of IEC.
Adoption Fund - Ethiopia has the highest percentage of orphans in the world. There are only 200 adoptions per year in a nation of 120 million. We are seeing more members of IEC pursuing adoption (6 children adopted in 2022 at IEC). This fund will cover legal and other expenses that come with adoption.
Interns - it costs approximately $2400 per year to support an intern serving at IEC.
Missionaries - IEC is planning to send out our second missionary from Ethiopia in 2023. $400 per month is needed to finish support for sending out this missionary.
Seminary Education - key staff members at IEC would greatly benefit from further study without leaving Ethiopia. Goal: $6000 per person per year.
Projects Impacting People
Water Filters - clean drinking water is critical. We are seeking to supply 100 water filters to families in need in our community. Filters cost $140 each (goal $14,000).
Retaining wall - this is urgent as we need to work on it before rainy season begins in June. The property of IEC is on a river that is quickly washing away a significant portion of the church land. This has impacted the second largest building at the church and it can no longer be used due to damage done from the river. We are praying that building survives rainy season. The retaining wall costs are high, but this is a project necessary to protect the church for generations to come.
UPDATE: we have had a generous gift to allow us to start this project.
IEC Youth Center - we continue to make progress on this project. Approximately $125,000 is needed due to rising costs of materials and inflation to complete the project. Click here for information on the Youth Center.
Gospel Outreach & Ministry Relief -Ethiopia has been in a 2 year civil war. A peace agreement was recently reached and we are praying this both holds and allows for gospel opportunities in some needy areas and with the unreached.
Christian Education Building - after we repair the retaining wall we need to repair the building damage caused by the lack of a retaining wall.
